Buh Bye, Mr. Trahan
Buh Bye, Mr. Trahan
In what is NOT A SHOCKER, Jefferson County will have two new party leaders come this March as Joseph Trahan is leaving politics for a few and heading into muni races that he thinks he can win. So he is not running for chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party!
Here is what he is telling all of you democrats:
"Over the years, I have grown from an idealistic college graduate into someone who has learned how to navigate personalities, agendas, victories, and defeats. It has made me better as a person, a leader, and a professional. Serving as Chairman of the Jefferson County Democratic Party has been one of the most rewarding challenges of my life. From securing the Party Headquarters to building our Sustaining Membership Fund and hosting events that helped raise over $600,000 for quality Democratic candidates, I am proud of what we have accomplished together. I have always tried to be a pragmatic, common-sense Democrat focused on working families, fairness, and governance with a conscience. Some said I was not liberal enough, others thought I was not conservative enough, but I have always preferred to be myself rather than bend to either wing. My comfort has never been with the powerful or the privileged. I have always felt more at home among regular folks who keep our communities running every day. That will never change.I also appreciate the Republicans who befriended me along the way, those who helped publicly or behind the scenes, and those who found common ground with me in honest conversations or through candidates I supported. Respect and understanding are not partisan traits. Because of my work schedule and a desire for change, I will not seek re-election. But if you know me, you know I cannot stay away from public service. I intend to run for Beaumont City Council in 2027 to focus on the city where I was born and raised, and the people who make it home. Stay tuned or not. That part is up to you."
Here are our thoughts.
There is always something bigger at play. The Riceland gang, being Trahan's employer, does not want (we are told) Trahan to be the public face for the democrats. Why? Well, it seems that it hurts their healthcare business. And Trahan got clocked in his last outing, trying to be a state representative.
Remember, you gotta have nuts to run for public office.
Now the big joke is that Mary Bond has some time to report to duty. She is sitting in jail waiting to go to the big house for 10 years. And that will be fun to watch this week – we think. Like Calvin Walker, if you are a Democrat, you seem to have nine (9) lives. Walker is on life 11.
So, now you guys get a brand new chairman! Right?
Now, will the left wing hire a chairman who is so far left that they cannot be trusted with dealing with the old guard? Or will they…go to the middle to do war with a warrior being Shilo Platt, who looks like he is going to be the next chairman of the GOP. Boy, would it be fodder for Platts and the left to go to war! But now, we are all left to guess.
Trahan is big time under the gun, and if he thinks it is going to be a walk into the position that AJ Turner is holding – wait – stop the presses! Rumor has it in the political world that AJ Turner is going to run for the County Commissioners' Seat. Those sneaky democrats!
And Jamie Smith is sitting pretty with a bunch of Republicans backing him. We will have more on that after filing.
Thus starts your week! We will have a bunch more as the Review will be in Austin for a few days this next week. We will give you the scoop when we get back!
